GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN OCTOBER 1, 2013 . NO PAY FOR TROOPS, NO TAX REFUNDS.

YOU MAY BE AMONG THOSE WHO FEEL THAT YOUR CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS ARE DOING A GRAND THING BY "SHOWING THAT UPPITY MUSLIM IN THE OVAL OFFICE A THING OR TWO" AND STALLING/BLOCKING THE FUNDS TO KEEP OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OPERATIONAL.
[ UPDATE TO
"REPUBLICANS SAY NO TO WAGE INCREASE AND OVERTIME PAY"

DID YOU FORGET THAT THE MAJORITY OF BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS VOTED FOR THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, aka 'OBAMACARE' , IN THE FIRST PLACE?
NOBODY HELD A GUN TO THEIR HEADS TO MAKE THEM VOTE FOR IT, MOST PEOPLE DID NOT WANT THE THING, BUT WISE UP, AMERICA, CONGRESS PASSED THE HEALTH CARE ACT, OBAMA SIGNED IT INTO LAW AFTER CONGRESS VOTED FOR IT!

The bill  passed the Senate by a vote of 60–39 on December 24, 2009
.
The House then passed the Senate bill with a vote of 219 to 212 on March 21, 2010.Obama signed the ACA into law on March 23, 2010.

The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, was also passed by the House on March 21, then by the Senate via reconciliation on March 25, signed by Obama on March 30, 2010.

GO HERE TO SEE HOW YOUR ELECTEDS VOTED ON BOTH PASSAGE AND ON REPEALING 'OBAMACARE'.

HERE'S A NEWSFLASH FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE THEIR G.O.P. ELECTEDS WHEN THEY TELL YOU THIS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN WILL STOP 'OBAMACARE'...
IT WON'T!

"'
The Congressional Research Service concludes that the implementation of Obamacare will continue in the event of a shutdown.'"
So, your Congressional liars knew this going in, but how many of them have told YOU this?

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS, A FEW FACTS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SPREAD TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

<<U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner warned rank-and-file Republicans in a conference call IN AUGUST against using the threat of a government shutdown to stop the implementation of Obamacare
. On the call, Boehner reminded Republicans of the political backlash their party suffered when the government shut down in 1995-1996.>>

On Monday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) urged House Republicans to not shut down the federal government.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/09/16/McCain-to-GOP-Don-t-Shut-Down-Gov-t

THE TWO TOP REPUBLICANS, Boehner and McCain, KNOW VERY WELL WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE GOVERNMENT GOES DARK!

“I think there’s a number of people who don’t remember when the government was shut down last time,” Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) said, referring to the budget battles of 1995 and 1996. “And who carried the burden of that? That was Republicans.”
“Now, I’m not saying they want to shut the government down. They want to defund ObamaCare,” Simpson added. “But if the inevitable result of the position you’re taking ... shuts the government down — then, yeah, you’re responsible.”
Rep. Patrick Tiberi (R-Ohio) said proposals from conservatives that had more teeth and would directly defund the healthcare law stood no chance in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Sen. Ted Cruz, (R-Texas), acknowledged Sunday that his push to defund Obamacare - even if it means shutting down the federal government in the process - still lacks the votes to succeed in the Senate.

U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry, (R-Texas), who has voted against Obamacare 40 times, detailed how the goal of some in the GOP to defund Obamacare by mothballing the federal government at the end of September will not work.“Ninety percent of the funding for Obamacare is an entitlement,” Thornberry said. “It goes on regardless of what happens to the rest of the government. We can pass 'no appropriations bills' and shut down the government — the military does not get a paycheck and federal employees will have to stay home. We can absolutely do that. Obamacare will go on. Just shutting down the federal government will not do it,” Thornberry said.<<Although most Illinois GOP members in Congress want to repeal Obamacare, they want no part of a pledge that’s tied to the threat of a government shut-down.

SURE LOOKS LIKE THE G.O.P. REALIZES THEIR PLOY WILL NOT END OBAMACARE. EVEN 'MINDLESS MITT' ROMNEY HAS SAID SO...IF HE KNOWS, SO DO ALL REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS!

AND IF YOU BELIEVED THE LIES YOU WERE TOLD THAT THIS WILL NOT AFFECT THE AVERAGE CITIZEN, READ ON.

There’s a cost to shutting the government down and then reopening it when the storm clouds clear. Two shutdowns in the mid-1990s cost an estimated $1.4 billion, according to the Congressional Research Service. Guess who will really pay for that? Taxpayers, of course!
Dig deep, citizens!

ONLY "critical services", those that "'protect human life and property'" will be kept open as long as possible.
Several Congressional members are posting what to expect on their websites.
I gathered these FACTS, these REALITIES from a few of those, and from other federal websites, sources listed at the end of the blog.
  • Unemployment benefits: The federal funds that help states pay the costs of their unemployment programs WILL be affected depending on the length of the shutdown. If the sinking economy over the past 14 years has cost you YOUR job, Congress will now make sure you get no unemployment checks to keep you and your family going.
  •  New Social Security applications will not be processed during any shutdown, as during previous shutdown so prepare a place for your elderly parents who may have thought their applications were good to go this month or in the next few months. They will need you to assist them financially until they can get back what they PAID INTO all their working lives.
  • Troops will continue to serve, BUT WILL NOT GET PAID. Their families will take a hit that Congress will not. Likely your Congressman has LIED to you about this, but it's all over the news and even on some of their OWN websites...NO PAY FOR TROOPS!
  • Of the 800,000 federal and D.C. government workers, employees whose pay is funded through annual appropriations, hundreds of thousands would be furloughed, unless their duties qualify as 'critically essential'. Hundreds of thousands of federal workers would be furloughed without pay. Historically that pay has been restored when the shutdown ends, BUT THAT IS NOT GUARANTEED BY LAW!
  • Veterans' services will be seriously affected: While VA hospitals will remain open, veterans' benefits will be delayed or reduced, as was the case during the last shutdown.
  • National parks: National parks and the National Wildlife Refuge Systems would be among the first places to close if the government shuts down.
  • Passports: Passport and visa applications will not be processed. If you were planning a trip abroad and don't already have your passport/visa, cancel now.
In the 1996 shutdown, over 200,000 passport applications and 30,000 daily visa applications went unprocessed.
  • IRS processing of tax REFUNDS for some returns WILL be suspended.
  • FHA new home loan guarantees will cease.
  • SBA approval of applications for business loan guarantees and direct loans to small businesses will mostly cease, impacting the engines of our already pathetic  economy and potentially slowing hopes of economic recovery.
  • Farm loans and farm payments WILL cease. Get ready for sky-high food costs!
  • Museums: National museums, including the Smithsonian Institution, will close in the event of a government shutdown.
  • Access to the U.S. Capitol, guide and staff-led tours of the Capitol will be canceled.
~Private contractors: The shutdown would leave most of the contractors to the federal government unpaid and at loose ends until a budget accord is reached.
~The shutdown will undermine investor confidence in the US economy, they will become more anxious about whether Washington is able to manage its finances and may take their business elsewhere.
~20%-25% of those wonderful TSA agents and other non-essential DHS employees will be furloughed, so expect some delays at airports, border crossings, etc.
The DHS’s E-Verify program – allowing employers to check job applicants' immigration status, to ensure potential hires are legal residents – “will not operate in the case of a government shutdown,” according to DHS officials. This will, in turn, impact the ability of small businesses to make new hires. E-Verify applies to ALL would-be employees, regardless of national origin.
~Some FAA (Federal Aviation) functions will be suspended. Fly safely, Americans!
~If government funding is halted for more than a few weeks, millions of children, nursing home patients, the disabled, all of the 42% of "REAL" Americans who live in poverty may begin to lose assistance for medical needs. So, if you have family members in nursing homes, maybe you should plan now for when they won't be able to stay there anymore.
~Need something from a federal office, any type of federal permit? Too bad! They'll be closed until further notice.
ONLY "critical services", those that "'protect human life and property'" will be kept open as long as possible.
~Do you have a federal court date, as an attorney or whatever? Cancel that.
The federal judiciary estimates that if a shutdown had occurs, the court system could  function for roughly 10 working days on the basis of fees and funds from prior appropriations. After that, doors will be closed.
~While Social Security checks will still be issued, many federal employees who send out those checks will be sent home. There may be "minor delays" in processing.

WHY SHUTTING DOWN THE GOVERNMENT WILL NEVER AFFECT OBAMACARE

<<The Washington Examiner’s Tim Carney warns that most Republicans seem to be confused about the effect a potential government shutdown would have on the implementation and enforcement of President Obama’s unpopular health care law.
"'Shutting down the government won’t defund Obamacare: Almost all Obamacare spending is “mandatory spending.” CONGRESS authorized that spending until the end of time, and it doesn’t need to be appropriated every year. So under a government shutdown, we’d run out of discretionary spending, but most of Obamacare would keep humming.>>

[DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT YOUR CONGRESSMEN WHO VOTED FOR THIS BILL ALREADY KNOW THIS?
DON'T YOU SEE WHO THE REAL TARGETS ARE?
IT ISN'T ABOUT HITTING OBAMA, IT'S ABOUT HITTING "MIDDLE-CLASS AMERICA", AND THE  ELDERLY, THE POOR, THE DISABLED, OUR MILITARY, AND VETERANS!
LOOK BACK! THAT'S WHO'S ALWAYS BEEN TARGETED!
THEY DON'T WANT HIGHER TAXES OR FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TOP 10%, BUT FROM THOSE OF US WHO PAY THE MOST TAXES NOW!
THINK!
OBAMA WON'T SUFFER FROM THIS, NOR OBAMACARE!
WE WILL! AGAIN!]

ABOUT 3/4ths OF THE NATION DOES NOT WANT TO SEE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN...BUT DO REPUBLICANS LISTEN?
THEY DIDN'T LAST TIME!

<<A new poll done solely FOR Republican members of Congress has found huge public opposition, and solid opposition among Republicans, to the idea of shutting down the government over the issue of funding Obamacare.
Overall, 71 percent of those surveyed opposed a shutdown, while 23 percent favored a shutdown. Among Republicans, 53 percent opposed, versus 37 percent who favored.
There is no doubt defunding advocates anticipate a possible shutdown; their hope is to persuade the public to blame President Obama, and not Republicans, for it. The new numbers suggest they will have a lot of persuading to do.>>

WASHINGTON -- In one of their final votes before heading home for a five-week summer recess, House Republicans voted on Friday to repeal Obamacare. It was their 40th such vote, and like their 39 previous attempts, it will not go any further with the Democratic-controlled Senate or the Democratic president.
The "Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013", sponsored by Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), would block the Internal Revenue Service from enforcing or implementing any portion of President Barack Obama's signature health care reform law. It passed 232 to 185, with all Republicans voting for it and four Democrats -– Reps. John Barrow (Ga.), Jim Matheson (Utah), Mike McIntyre (N.C.) and Collin Peterson (Minn.) -- siding with them. Six Republicans didn't vote.
THAT WAS FOR THE BIG CORPORATIONS SO THEY WON'T BE OUT HEALTH CARE FOR MILLIONS OF WORKERS! THAT WAS FOR THEIR PALS NOT FOR YOU!
SEE THE SLIDESHOW ON THAT PAGE OF HUFFINGTON POST:
"Lies And Distortions Of The Health Care Reform Debate"
IT JUST MAY BE AN EYE-OPENER FOR YOU.
FOR EXAMPLE...NO, NO, THERE ARE NO "DEATH PANELS" IN THE ACT.
As independent fact-checkers showed (PolitiFact.com 2009b; FactCheck.org 2009a), such rumors were simply false.
IF AMERICANS WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS BILL FOR THEMSELVES, THEY COULD NEVER HAVE BEEN FOOLED INTO BELIEVING THE IDIOTIC LIES THEY'VE ACCEPTED AS TRUTH.
DOES THE ACT HAVE PROBLEMS? YES!
IS THERE A BETTER SOLUTION FOR UNINSURED AMERICANS? YES!
WHY DOESN'T CONGRESS WORK TOGETHER TO FIND A BETTER ONE, RATHER THAN SHUTTING DOWN THE U.S. GOVERNMENT AND MAKING US LOOK IRRESPONSIBLE AND FINANCIALLY UNSAFE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD?
WHY DON'T YOU GO ASK YOUR ELECTED LIARS THAT?
