PENTAGON SHIPPED LIVE ANTHRAX FOR DECADES, NO IDEA WHERE TO

"The Defense Department admitted it sent deadly spores to three countries and 12 states—and confessed it doesn’t know who else received the lethal bacteria."

WHO'S SHOCKED BY THIS LATEST PENTAGON SNAFU?

NOT THE TEA ROOM!

IT SEEMS THE PENTAGON, CAUGHT WITH ITS PANTS AROUND ITS ANKLES YET AGAIN, IS HAVING TO COME (A LITTLE) CLEAN ON THE FACTS THAT, NOT ONLY DID IT INDEED SHIP LIVE ANTHRAX VIRUS TO LABS ACROSS THE GLOBE FOR MANY YEARS, IT REALLY CAN'T SAY JUST YET TO HOW MANY LABS....NOR WHERE, NOR WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARD!

NOTHING NEW HERE...
BUT LET'S HAVE A LOOK ANYWAY.

THE PENTAGON SAYS IT TRULY THOUGHT ALL THAT ANTHRAX WAS DEAD, NOT ALIVE.

<snicker! riiiight!>

THOSE WHO BELIEVE THIS, STAND ON YOUR HEAD AND WIGGLE YOUR EARS...

I SEE NO FEET IN THE AIR...

YEAH, IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES AT THE PENTAGRAM, I MEAN PENTAGON, UNTIL SOMEBODY DROPS DEAD FROM A LIVE VIRUS.

AND DIDN'T WE ARREST SOME FOLKS BACK A FEW YEARS AGO FOR EVEN PRETENDING TO SEND LIVE ANTHRAX VIRUS TO OTHER PEOPLE?

IS THE PENTAGON GOING DOWN FOR THIS ONE, MAYBE, FINALLY?
HELL NO!

NO, "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND".
THE PENTAGON IS IMMUNE TO PROSECUTION FOR ANYTHING, PERIOD, THE END.

WIPE OUT MOST OF THE POPULATION OF PLANET EARTH?
ALRIGHTY THEN!
WAY TO GO, PENTAGRAMMERS!

EXPOSE UNSUSPECTING, INNOCENT LAB WORKERS (WELL, MAYBE INNOCENT) TO A TERRIBLE VIRUS AND MAYBE AN AGONIZING DEATH?
YAAAAY, TEAM!

FINE JOB!
ENCORE, ENCORE!

WHY ASK FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR WICKED GOVERNMENT EXPERIMENTS WHEN YOU CAN JUST CREATE AN "ACCIDENTAL MISTAKE/ERROR/UH-OH!", RIGHT BOYZ?
THINK OF THE MONEY THAT SAVED!

"Defense Department officials admitted on Tuesday that they do not know how many states or countries around the world may have received dangeroussamples of live anthrax mistakenly sent from an Army lab in Utah.
But they are admitting that anthrax has been discovered at the Pentagon itself."

OOPS!
THAT'S SCARY, RIGHT?
AND IRONIC...AND MAYBE, DARE WE SAY, "KARMA"?

HOLD ON...PROBABLY WASN'T LIVE, WHAT THE PENTAGON SENT ITSELF, OR WHATEVER...
"Officials have yet to confirm whether the actual shipment sent to the Pentagon contained live spores or not, a senior defense official told The Daily Beast. This official could not say when the anthrax arrived, or how much had entered the building."
MAYBE NEXT TIME...BECAUSE THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME THAT THE PENTAGON DOES A "FUBAR".
AND ONE AFTER THAT, THEN A DOZEN IN A STRING OF "BOO-BOOS" MAYBE...
WE CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON THE PENTAGON TO SCREW WAY, WAY UP!

June 3, 2015, YE OLDE WALL STREET JOURNAL

"WASHINGTON—Pentagon officials said Wednesday the inadvertent shipment of live anthrax to laboratories nationwide stretched back a decade and that the scope of the mishap was likely to expand in coming days.
Four batches [ONLY 4? COME ON!] of the pathogen sent from the U.S. military laboratory at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah—which were thought to have been irradiated and inactivated—have been identified as containing live anthrax, officials said. Samples from those batches were sent to 51 sites in the U.S. and overseas over the past 10 years.
An additional 400 batches from all four military labs that handle live anthrax are being tested, officials said, and if those are found to be live, the number of outside labs that received suspect samples could grow sharply."

DAMN!
THAT'S A LOT OF ANTHRAX!

WHAT ARE YOU FELLOWS DOING WITH SO MUCH OF THAT STUFF, PENTA-DUDES?
NO, REALLY, WHY SO MUCH?
TELL US, WILL YOU...PRETTY PLEASE?
WITH COCAINE SUGAR ON TOP?
I KNOW YOU LIKE YOUR "BLOW", YOU CRAZY GUYS!

“We expect this number may rise,” said Robert Work, the deputy defense secretary.

GROW BY HOW MUCH, BOB, BOBERT?
ANY IDEA AT ALL?
Currently, 31 lab workers who may have come in contact with the anthrax are undergoing post-exposure treatment as a precaution. “We know of no risk to the general public from these samples,” Mr. Work said.

SWEET, THAT'S NICE.
ISN'T THAT NICE, FOLKS?

I FEEL SOOOO MUCH BETTER NOW, DON'T YOU?

"BLESSED ASSURANCE" AND ALL THAT...

"Officials wouldn’t release the names of the recipient labs but said they were in 17 states, the District of Columbia and three other countries: Canada, Australia and South Korea."

THE BASTARDS!

SO WHAT, THE WORLD HAS TO GUESS?

"The labs that are believed to have erroneously received live anthrax samples have all been contacted by both the military and the Centers for Disease Control, officials said. Labs have been instructed to send the samples back to the CDC for testing."

I HAD TO PICK MYSELF UP OFF THE FLOOR ON THAT PIECE OF "WISDOM"...HANG ON A SEC, LET ME STOP LAUGHING...

IT'S NOT FUNNY, REALLY, BUT IT'S LAUGH OR CRY.

"HEY, JOE! DROP THAT LIVE ANTHRAX BACK IN THE NEAREST MAILBOX TO US, WILL YA', BUDDY, AND, UMMM, SORRY ABOUT THAT.
ATTABOY, JOE!
ARE YOU THERE, JOE?
JOE?"

IMAGINE IT, CADETS...TRY TO IMAGINE IT.

HERE'S ANOTHER "ZINGER" FROM THE PENTAGRAM PEOPLE:
"
Frank Kendall, the Pentagon official charged with leading the lab review, said that officials must not “maximize or minimize the degree of concern.”

SO, WTH DOES THAT MEAN?
NOT MAXIMIZE, NOT MINIMIZE?
JUST FOR FUN, LET'S DO AN MRI SCAN OF OLD FRANKIE'S SKULL, SEE IF THERE'S A REAL BRAIN IN IT!
IN FACT, LET'S DO THE WHOLE CROWD UP AT THE FIVE-POINTED BUILDING!
IT'S PAST TIME WE KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY BRAINS ON STAFF UP THERE!

" In 2001, a series of anthrax-laden letters were mailed to key senators and media personalities, killing five people and exposing nearly 30,000 to the lethal spores
Efforts for surety in tracking anthrax were supposed to be put in place around 2009 shortly after the FBI announced it planned to charge Bruce Ivins, an Army biodefense researcher,  with the deadliest act of bioterrorism on American soil.
“Somebody got sloppy. They put too much faith in the protocol,” a senior defense official said in explaining how anthrax could be lost.
In reality, those 2009 protocols were an attempt to contain a secondary problem unleashed by the 2001 anthrax attacks: a huge increase in bioterror research funding and biodefense labs. That proliferation increased risk—without putting in place major safety upgrades, critics of the expansion say.
Even when the anthrax attacks turned out to be an internal threat—rather than an outside biological strike, as some initially feared—the policies and the increased funding for research did not change.

Rather than reduce risks, the number of people with access to deadly pathogens increased as much 40-fold, said Richard Ebright, professor of chemistry and chemical biology at Rutgers University.
“Your typical Walmart has greater security than the average U.S. biological weapons lab,” Ebright said. “We are still operating with the same policies as on December of 2001—no revision, no reassessment.”
THAT'S COMFORTING, ISN'T IT, FELLOW CITIZENS?
I MEAN, HOW COMFORTING IS THAT?

SHOULD WE "DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY"?

AW, HELL, WHY BOTHER?
IT'S THE PENTAGON, AFTER ALL, HEADED BY THE "gods" FROM, OH, MAYBE MOUNT OLYMPUS, OR SOMEPLACE MORE COOL THAN THAT?

LET 'EM PLAY...

BOYZ WILL BE BOYZ...

EXCUSE ME WHILE I CALL MY POST OFFICE AND TELL THEM TO HOLD MY MAIL FOR THE NEXT DECADE OR TWO...
